Chicago Fashion Focus is Chicago’s very own fashion week celebrating Chicago’s thriving fashion industry. Chicago Fashion Focus started Monday, October 17, and will continue until Sunday, October 23. During this week, there are so many shows and events you can check out, but there are three shows that I think are a must see during fashion focus.

The Designers of the Chicago Fashion Incubator (CFI) presented by Macy’s

Featuring new and emerging Chicago designers, the Chicago Fashion Incubator show will be on October 18, at 7:30 pm in Millennium Park. Check out a preview of the current designers in residence and some alumni’s Spring 2012 collection. The designers in residence showing will be: Taneasha Prunty, Crystal B. Simms, Kahindo Mateene, Concetta Cipriano, Shavonne Dorsey and Eric Kipp. The alumni that will be showing are: Miriam Cecilia Carlson, Leah Fagan, Christina Fan, Catherine Furio, Anna Hovet, Stephanie Kuhr, Agga B. Raya, Jonnie Rettele, Cynthia Ryba, Donaldo Smith and Lidia Wachowska. With such a talented lineup this is definitely a show to check out. Dress Code 2011

Dress Code is a fashion show featuring student designers from Chicago fashion design schools: Columbia College Chicago, The Illinois Institue of Art – Chicago, International Academy of Design and Technology – Chicago, and School of The Art Institute of Chicago. The show will be held October 19, at 7 pm at the Chicago History Museum. This year the students will be taking part in the “FashioNext: The Charles James Project” where they will have to create an accessory or garment inspired by the design, pattern work or construction details from a Charles James design. This show, featuring rising talent in the fashion world, is one you don’t want to miss! Tickets are $15 for students and $25 for general admission.’s Art of Fashion 2011

The Art of Fashion will be the last headlining show of Fashion Focus taking place on Friday, October 21, at 7:30 pm in Millennium Park. I believe they saved the best show for last! The Art of Fashion will feature the Spring 2012 collection of Chicago designers: Nade Baer, Nora del Busto, Lara Miller, Borris Powell, Eva Pazola, RÜCH, Squasht by Les, Shernett Swaby, Sylwia Wilczynska and Zamrie.
