Living in a recession means you have to cut back on many things like fashion. Looking fabulous and having stylish clothes doesn’t mean you have to overdraft your checking account. You can still have the designer’s clothes for a low price. Shopping online has become a new trend for many people.

Big companies like Sears, Old Navy, Wet Seal, Forever 21, Chanel and Louis Vuitton have seen that many of their customers do not have time to run to the store. Many companies want their online revenue to go up. There are a couple sites where you can rent designer dresses, shoes and bags. You can rent a designer dress for a week and return it by Monday. Let’s take a look at some of these sites where you can rent and buy the perfect outfit without breaking your wallet.

Bag Borrow or Steal has all the designer bags a recessionista would want. After becoming famous from the “Sex and The City” movie, anyone can afford to rent a designer bag for a week. You also can find limited edition bags that are no longer available—Louis Vuitton Graffiti bags were a hot item to have a year ago. If you want a popular bag, you might be on the waiting list. A good thing about this site is that they seem like they have more than one bag. So your waiting time can take up to a week. Once you find the bag you want to rent, you will have two opinions: rent for a week or rent the bag for a month. Renting prices can range from $12 to $200 a week, all depending on the designer and popularity of the bag. Most of the bags start at $12 to rent for a week and $45 for a month. The membership is free, and when you tell a friend you will get $25 added to your account.  You can also rent sunglasses and jewelry.

TopShop is an online store where you can find a couple of unique clothes. The store is a little on the expensive side, but you can find a nice top or pair of jeans for under $30. Celebrities like supermodel Kate Moss has her own dress line with TopShop. Topshop is where you find something you can wear that will make you stand out. You can find many unknown and up-and-coming designers on the site. Their blog on the site is very useful because you can find out about trends people are wearing.

Having the perfect pair of shoes will complete an outfit. Piper Lime is the place to buy your shoes. You can find all of your favorite brands like Nike, Betsey Johnson, Calvin Klein, Jessica Simpson, L.A.M.B. and DKNYC. This site always has a sale going on; you’ll never pay full price for a pair of shoes. If you’re having a hard time deciding what pair of shoes you want, you can take a look at celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe’s Picks on the site. Great site to find a pair of shoes without spending a lot of money.

You know when you have a big party to go to, but you don’t want to spend big bucks on your dress? You can go to Wear Today Gone Tomorrow; this will be the perfect site for you. You can rent a dress or gown for little as $28 for seven days and a $10 cleaning fee. The site has many different dresses for parties, a girl’s night out and weddings.  You don’t have to spend much to have an elegant dress. Membership for the site is free, and if you tell a friend, you will get $25 added to your account. Also, if you want to see the trends for this season, the site has a trend section.

Zappos will be the site you go when you save you money for the shoes you’ve been dying to get. Although some of the shoes on the site are a little expensive, you still can find a deal. Many designers will have their own page on the site, where you can look at their collection. Also, Zappos has many sales on sunglasses, designers bags and jewelry. You’ll never have to worry about waiting weeks to receive your order, Zappos will ship your order the next day once you place your order.

These sites will be very helpful because you can find something you want to buy or rent for a week. You can still go into your Old Navy and Forever 21 and buy clothes, but it never hurts to try something different. Spending hundreds dollars on outfits is old news. You don’t have to spend much to look red carpet ready. Every recessionista knows how to look like a million bucks without breaking her wallet.
