Jazmine Holifield: A Make-Up Artist on the Rise

“America’s Next Top Model” has been a big inspiration to many up-and-coming models, but for Jazmine Holifield she was inspired by the dramatic makeovers. She says she loves the crazy things models have gotten done on the show, and has always wanted to get involved with the makeup industry.

Her client list doesn’t have the big names yet, but Holifield plans to make it happen sooner then later.

Holifield says she has always done make-up on the side with others and on herself, but for two months she has tried to pursue her hobby.

She is 20-years-old as a Public Relations major with a minor in Business Administration at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin––also where she is from.

“I always liked to put make-up on others and me, and also liked playing with colors,” Holifield modelsaid.

To learn how to mix and give someone a desired look, Holifield said she experimented with many brands of makeup and taught herself what looked right and what didn’t. Some of her favorite makeup products are Revlon, MAC, Make-Up Forever and many more.

“To continue to keep up with versatility with fashion and make-up trends, I had to keep up with fashion magazines,” she said.

Her first portfolio shoot included giving girls who were attending prom free make-up makeovers. Not only has she had the opportunity to do some freelance work, she also worked with True Beauty Entertainment––a styling company––and assisted with styling and makeup for models from Model Mayhem.

She plans to do another photo shoot with more established models, but for the time being she is working with local models and photographers.

As a student with a major that doesn’t necessarily go along with her passion for make-up, Holifield eventually plans to open her own image consulting firm.

As she is in the early stages of her make-up artist career, Holifield says she wants to get as much exposure and practice within the industry as she can. The up-and-comet is working hard to get her name, and her art, out there.
