Introducing The Accessory House

Danielle Mike, a Ft. Lauderdale, FL native, now an ATL'ian, spends her days as a single mom and manager, but she has taken on a new project to revolutionize accessory pieces for African American and plus-sized women.

On Sept. 16, Danielle launched Cultivated Beauty & Style, a fashion house and virtual boutique that offers, "handcrafted jewelry, exotic headpieces, and handbags," says Danielle.

Far from the typical jewelry line, Danielle's line, The Accessory House, features mature pieces uniquely tailored to fit each woman and her mood.

Yes, each piece lets women be their edgy selves and show some personality, but Danielle adds more. She likes to think outside of the box and pair unusual things.

"I use so many types of materials and so many types of metals," says Danielle. “That's just who I am; I like to be very different.”

Just six months ago, she decided to take a creative journey and make her first piece of jewelry—a necklace with vintage brass chains, pearls, and pink ribbon.

"I actually made a piece one day just out of curiosity, and I had a lady buy it off my neck," she recalls. "And then that's when I knew I was going to do it."

That customized piece created a following.

Danielle says that ever since her first job as a retail manager at age 16, she has loved the particulars of fashion. She's been a stylist in the Atlanta area and has worked for top brands for more than 10 years. She draws inspiration from her love of fashion, what surrounds her, as well as music to make each piece.

"I get inspiration [from] my surro undings, but I also get inspiration from music. People think it's very awkward but I tell you I listen to Beyoncé and I feel like a diva and I’ll think of a piece that reflects her attitude," says Danielle. "It’s about femininity and producing that soft hardcore look for a woman."

Her vision is a "revolutionary style" that resembles the looks of the 50s and 60s with some added boldness.

The Accessory House is all about being futuristic, feminine, innovative, fashionable and versatile because you will be able to wear her pieces from day to night, says Danielle. She also wants her customers to be inspired to add one of her pieces to their wardrobe.

Her goal: to create a shopping experience that is personable, yet affordable and unique. She also wants her customers to be inspired by adding pieces to their wardrobe.

Who are The Accessory House's ideal customers? "Funky to the most upscale woman you'll ever meet," Danielle says.

The boutique also features a virtual assistant shopper where customers can choose a piece of jewelry and view suggested items to compliment it whether it be a clutch, pair of shoes, or a place where they can purchase an item.

Items will range from $8.50 to $59.50.

Danielle says she wants women of all walks of life to be able to wear her jewelry and feel good about it. In the next two years, she also hopes to have two boutiques, one in Atlanta and another in Miami.
