Make-up Brush Makeover

Cleaning make-up brushes can be a daunting task. But, because it’s one of the single most important beauty tools, it has to be done. For some of us, it’s months before we clean them while others just throw them out. It’s bad enough you’ve used a brush over and over, building up more bacteria, but you’re going to throw away that perfectly good brush?

Depending on the brush, make-up brushes are not cheap and if you are continuously throwing them out when they get dirty, you’re going to spend way more than if you just cleaned them.

It’s great if you do clean your brushes but is your method working? There are a few solutions made of product you can find right in your home that claim to work but really don’t. Some may clean your brush but leave the hair or ferrule (metal part) damaged. Others might cater to keeping the hair in tact but leave your brush full of gook.

Either way, this simple solution is inexpensive, will clean and keep your make-up brushes in good condition.

You’ll need:

1 tsp. of dish washing detergent and 1 tsp. olive oil for each brush

4 tbsp. cool water for each brush

paper towels

container, cup or bowl

*If cleaning two brushes you’ll need 2 tsp. dish detergent, 2 tsp. olive oil, and 8 tbsp. cool water

Directions:

1) pour water into a bowl then add soap and oil to water

2) dip brush one at a time into the solution until a lather forms

3) rinse brush under cool water then squeeze access water out of the brush hair from the ferrule

4) lay brush on a paper towel

5) dry brushes by facing each one down in a container, cup or bowl with a paper towel at the bottom to drain all water

*If brush is not clean once rinsed repeat steps 2 and 3*

That’s all to FAB make-up brushes!

Keep it fab...
