To ease its own convictions
And I am sorry.
No one will ever take the time
To understand
The scripture written on your wings
To hear as the wind blows our inhibition
And I swear I hear destiny instructing me to fall
On my knees in reverence of your smile
Smile, baby don’t forget to smile
Because the world will try to convince you not to
Yet I believe God created Hope as the enamel on your teeth
And there are times of emptiness
When I need to be kept
Hope
Full
Understand that
Our lives are too short
To listen to tall tales
So we must love
Because our past says
We deserve it
World,
If we are wrong
I will staple my heart on the back of a King James Bible
Personally hand it to God
And say “I lived by it.”
Because I will never
be ashamed of us.
At the tip of the world’s fingers
Lies hatred
And the world will always point its fingers at us
