Grammy-Award winning artist, former member of Destiny’s Child and Chicago native Michelle Williams joins the cast of the Broadway hit FELA! as it returns to Chicago in February at the Arie Crown Theater. Back by popular demand, producers Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, Will & Jada Smith, along with Ruth & Stephen Hendel bring the Broadway experience back for six performances February 19-23. The award-winning play tells the story of the late Nigerian musician and revolutionary artist Fela Kuti. Known for his fusion of African, Funk and Jazz beats, the life of the father of Afrobeat is depicted in theatrical song and dance. Kuti’s introduction to and his relationship with fellow political activist Sandra Izsadore (who Williams portrays), the mother of Afrobeat, altered his worldly views on politics and human nature, which vastly influenced his music. The play celebrates his life and world-renowned legacy. FELA! is more than a play. It’s more than a musical. It’s an experience.

Individual tickets are $20-$70. For more information on tickets and show times, contact the Arie Crown Theater Box Office at 312.791.6320. For more information on FELA!, visit www.felaonbroadway.com.
