The Real Thing (Jill Scott had me in mind when she wrote that chorus)

I'm the real thing--stereo/
By now, I thought you would've heard my song pumping through the speakers/
Why didn't it reach ya?/
Different station I guess/
People always want mo' fo less/
My anger builds when REAL music goes unappreciated./
I guess I overestimated/
You/

Still, I thought you would have heard my music/
My soul music/
A soul pound pumping through the speakers/
It wasn't loud enough/
You couldn't feel the vibrations of my outer and inner beauty./
They lied/
Words do hurt, but not cosmetically/
Like a punch in the face/
They fracture the heart--a song with no bass/
Half of what it could be/
Can't move the party/
Not enough to win a Grammy/
But.....open your ears/
I'm the Reaaaal thing, stereo/
Can't you hear?/
I can make it shine,
I can make it glow/
I thought you would have seen the way/
Heads bob to my beat when I walk down the street/
A beautiful song wrapped in a pretty package/
Lyrics too deep/
Never two-faced/
Flip the coin and I'll still be the best/
You don't want to like my type of music/
You don't like actually listening to the lyrics/
Black and white because my colors can send into epileptic seizure/
And still I glow/
I'm the realist/
Don't spit on my song because it's different/
The One Hit Wonders get all the love and respect/
And even the singles that flopped in the past/
We'll just call them the EX/
While the deep music sits on the shelf/
Waiting for a fan who will give it the extended playtime it deserves/
A fan worthy of the Real Thing.
