Chicago entertainer J-Lyn has always had a passion for music and entertainment and is embracing her talents through many obstacles with music. She is a singer/songwriter and sings all genres of music including R&B and Pop. The young businesswoman is the CEO of her own company called HeadTurner Entertainment.

jl“When I was younger, my inspiration in music was Tina Turner, Stephanie Mills and now Monica, Mary J. Blige and many soulful singers,” says J-Lyn.

Before being in the spotlight, J-Lyn taught herself the business side of music, reading about copywriting and publishing to understand music business.

Her music has been heard across major Chicago radio stations, but J-Lyn says the city supports her only to a certain degree, and she’s done everything to get support she wants.

“The radio stations play my songs in rotation but not as much as other artists,” she says. “The support system isn’t at its best. “

The biggest record of 2010 for J-Lyn was her hit single “Take Control” which was played on the radio along with her other singles “Body Paint,” “Can’t Get Rid of Me,” “Get Out of Bed” and “To Do List.”

She has won the Chicago Independent Award for Best Female Mixtape, was nominated in three categories for the Chicago Music Award and also won the contest to open up at Budweiser Superfest for artists such as Jaheim, Raheem DeVaughn, Anthony Hamilton and Kem.

“The competition was all over the U.S., and I won for Chicago—a prize of $5,000,” she says.

J-Lyn describes herself as being multi-talented because she not only sings but she models and acts. She was the host for Chicago’s CAN-TV program, “Ninja Show,” showcasing artists talents on TV.

Her latest EP is available on i-Tunes, Amazon and
