All Natural: An Artist’s Workshop stimulated the minds and souls of guests who gathered for an organic experience of soulful music and education about natural hair Thursday night at The Shrine ( in Chicago. Special guest host Jaguar Wright, who was featured on Jay-Z’s MTV Unplugged and the “Philly Sounds” 2011 headliner, graced the stage to share some of her melodic verses and flow. Surprise guest R&B crooner Eric Benet free styled with Jaguar as the crowd sang and swayed along to their harmonious sounds in the club’s intimate setting.

“Tonight was filled with electricity and life,” says Jaguar. “Something was different about the nature of tonight.”

Poet Harold Green emceed the monthly concert that features local up and coming artists. Backed by the South Loop’s house band Verzatile, local talents of this month’s installment of All Natural paid homage to some of the best with soul and funk tunes from the 1980s and 1990s.

The hair care line Organic Root Stimulator unveiled their latest line, Curls Unleashed, and the venue featured a “Curls Unleashed Beauty Lounge” where natural hair specialists provided information on natural hair care and guests sampled the new products at the beauty lounge.

Beauty in its natural state, whether it’s in one’s hair or art, is about being true to self. As a performing artist and one who speaks to those who aspire to work in the industry, Jaguar expressed the significance of being genuine with no shame and to personify one’s authentic self.

“It’s important to always remember to be 100 percent in every moment,” she comments.
